Terms of Use for ASCII Art Archive

This is the Terms of Use for ASCII Art Archive, accessible from https://www.asciiart.eu/

This policy was last updated 2nd March 2026

  1. Terms

    1. By accessing any part of the asciiart.eu website (hereafter referred to as the WEBSITE), the USER implicitly agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use, all applicable laws and regulations, and agrees that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.
    2. The materials contained in this website are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
    3. The terms of this agreement may be updated from time to time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users of material changes (for example, by email or a notice on the WEBSITE). The updated date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Your continued use of the WEBSITE after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
    4. You must be at least 13 years old to use this WEBSITE. In some EU countries, the minimum age may be up to 16, depending on local legislation. If you are under the required age, you may not create an account or use the WEBSITE.
  2. Conditions of Use (Use License)

    1. The WEBSITE’s own materials (such as its design, code, branding, logos, and editorial content) are protected by intellectual property law. You agree not to:
      1. copy, modify, or redistribute the WEBSITE’s design, code, or branding;
      2. attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software contained on the WEBSITE;
      3. remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the WEBSITE’s materials;
      4. "mirror" the WEBSITE or any substantial portion of it on any other server;
      5. use this WEBSITE in any way that is, or may be, damaging to the WEBSITE or that impacts other users’ access;
      6. sell, sublicense and/or otherwise commercialize any WEBSITE material (except as explicitly permitted under "Use of Generated ASCII Art" and "Submissions to this Site");
      7. use this WEBSITE contrary to applicable laws and regulations, or in a way that causes, or may cause, harm to the WEBSITE, or to any person or business entity;
      8. engage in any data mining, data harvesting, data extracting, scraping, or any other similar activity in relation to this WEBSITE.
    2. What you can do: You are free to view, print, and share individual ASCII artworks for personal, non-commercial purposes. Content you create yourself and content generated by our tools are governed by their respective sections below.
    3. This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by the WEBSITE at any time.
  3. User Accounts and Community Features

    1. Many features of the WEBSITE (such as the gallery, tools, animations, and games) are available without an account. To access additional features (such as saving favorites, publishing your own ASCII art, creating collections, and interacting with the community) you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials (including your password) secure.
    2. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Injosoft AB is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account information. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, you should change your password immediately and contact us.
    3. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion, without prior notice, and without liability of any kind, including where accounts violate these Terms, our Privacy Policy, or applicable laws, or where activity is deemed harmful to the WEBSITE or its community.
    4. Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us. We will process such requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws. When an account is deleted, content you have published to the Gallery (such as ASCII art) will remain publicly visible but will no longer be linked to your account or personal information. You retain full ownership and rights to your published work. If you want your published content removed as well, please let us know explicitly when requesting deletion.
    5. By submitting ASCII art or other content, you represent and warrant that you own the rights to such content or have permission to share it, and that it does not violate any law, third-party rights, or contain offensive or inappropriate material.
    6. We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove any content at our sole discretion, including but not limited to content that is unlawful, abusive, offensive, or otherwise objectionable. User-generated content is the sole responsibility of the person who originated it and does not necessarily reflect the views of Injosoft AB or the WEBSITE.
  4. Community Guidelines

    To keep the WEBSITE a safe and enjoyable place for everyone, you agree to follow these community rules. Content or behavior that violates these guidelines may result in removal of material or suspension of your account.

    • No content containing violence, threats, or promotion of harm.
    • No sexual, pornographic, or sexually explicit content.
    • No hate speech, discrimination, or harassment of any kind.
    • No content that promotes illegal activities or self-harm.
    • No spamming, flooding, or other disruptive behavior.
    • Respect other users and their creative work.

    We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove any content at our discretion in order to protect the integrity of the community.

  5. Intellectual Property Rights

    1. You are granted a limited license only, subject to the restrictions provided in these Terms, for purposes of viewing and printing the material contained on this WEBSITE.
    2. You retain ownership of the content you create and submit. However, to operate and promote the WEBSITE, you grant us the license described under “Submissions to this Site”.
  6. Use of Generated ASCII Art

    The ASCII Art generated through our tools (such as "Image to ASCII Art", "Text to ASCII Art", "Webcam to ASCII Art", and other utilities provided on the WEBSITE) is free to use for any purpose, including personal and commercial projects. No attribution is required.

    However, if you find the tools useful and would like to support us, we would greatly appreciate a link back to asciiart.eu or a mention to help spread the word. Please note that this permission applies only to artwork generated by the WEBSITE’s automated tools and does not extend to content submitted by other users, which remains subject to their ownership rights.

    Please note that while you are free to use ASCII Art generated by our tools, you must not use the tools to create or distribute content that violates our Community Guidelines, including hateful, violent, pornographic, or otherwise unlawful material.

  7. Local Data Processing in Tools

    Most of the tools on the WEBSITE process your data entirely in your web browser. This includes Image to ASCII Art, Webcam to ASCII Art, Text to ASCII Art, ANSI Art Viewer, PETSCII Art Viewer, Word Counter, Character Counter, Text Cleaner, Case Converter, and more. This means:

    • Images, text, and files you open in these tools are never uploaded to our servers.
    • Camera access (used by Webcam to ASCII Art) runs locally. No video or image data leaves your device.
    • All conversions, analysis, and rendering happen on your own computer using JavaScript and your browser's built-in capabilities.

    We designed our tools this way to protect your privacy. Your files remain on your device at all times unless you explicitly choose to publish or share content through your account.

  8. Premium Subscription

    1. The WEBSITE offers an optional paid subscription ("Premium") that provides additional features such as an ad-free experience, larger canvas sizes, fullscreen mode, animation video exports, and access to premium content. The specific features included in Premium may change over time.
    2. Billing and renewal: Premium subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
    3. Payment: Payments are processed securely through our third-party payment provider (currently Stripe). We do not store your full credit card details on our servers. By subscribing, you also agree to the payment provider's terms of service.
    4. Cancellation: You can cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your account settings. After cancellation, you will continue to have access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period. No further charges will be made after cancellation.
    5. Refunds: If you are on an annual plan and are not satisfied with Premium, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase or most recent annual renewal. Monthly subscriptions are not eligible for refunds, but you can cancel at any time to stop future charges. Contact us to request a refund.
    6. Price changes: We may update Premium pricing from time to time. If we change the price of your active subscription, we will notify you at least 30 days before the new price takes effect. If you do not agree with the new price, you may cancel before the next renewal.
    7. Downgrade: If you cancel Premium or your subscription expires, your account reverts to the free plan. Your saved work and published content remain accessible. You will lose access to Premium-only features (such as fullscreen mode, larger sizes, and the ad-free experience).
  9. Disclaimer

    1. The materials on the WEBSITE are provided "as is". The WEBSITE makes no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaims and negates all other warranties, including without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights.
    2. Whilst we will endeavour to keep the information accurate, we cannot and do not guarantee the accuracy of the information and we accept no responsibility, and shall have no liability, for any loss or damage which may arise from using or relying on the information. If you believe any information is inaccurate, please let us know by contacting us at the email address set out under "Further Information" so that we may review and update it if appropriate.
  10. Submissions to this Site

    1. Any communication or material you submit to this WEBSITE by electronic mail, upload, or otherwise, including but not limited to ASCII art, likes, data, questions, suggestions, or other creative works (“submissions”) will be treated as non-confidential.
    2. Ownership: You retain full ownership of the content you create and submit. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your work to us.
    3. License to us: You grant to the WEBSITE and Injosoft AB and its affiliates an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license, with the right to sub-license, to reproduce, distribute, transmit, create derivative works of, publicly display and publicly perform any materials and other information you submit to any public areas of the WEBSITE, in connection with operating, improving, and promoting the WEBSITE and its services.
    4. By making a submission, you warrant that you own the material/content submitted or have the necessary permissions, that it is not defamatory, and that the WEBSITE’s use will not violate any third party's rights or any applicable laws.
    5. You also grant the WEBSITE the right to use your username in connection with the submitted materials as well as in connection with advertising, marketing, and promotional material related thereto.
    6. You agree that you shall have no recourse against the WEBSITE for any alleged or actual infringement or misappropriation of any proprietary right in your communications to the WEBSITE.
    7. The WEBSITE is under no obligation to use the information submitted, and is not obligated to monitor all user submissions. User submissions may be moderated at our discretion.
  11. Changes to the Service

    We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the WEBSITE or its Services (including community features such as comments or likes) at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.

  12. Limitation of Liability

    In no event shall the WEBSITE or Injosoft AB, nor any of its officers, directors and employees, or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on the WEBSITE, even if the WEBSITE or an authorized representative has been notified of the possibility of such damage. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you.

  13. Indemnification

    You hereby indemnify to the fullest extent the WEBSITE or Injosoft AB from and against any and all liabilities, costs, demands, causes of action, damages and expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or in any way related to your breach of any of the provisions of these Terms.

  14. Severability

    If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under any applicable law, such unenforceability or invalidity shall not render these Terms unenforceable or invalid as a whole, and such provisions shall be deleted without affecting the remaining provisions herein.

  15. Revisions and Errata

    The materials appearing on the WEBSITE could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. The WEBSITE does not warrant that any of the materials are accurate, complete, or current. The WEBSITE may make changes to the materials at any time without notice, but does not commit to updating them.

  16. Links

    The WEBSITE has not reviewed all of the sites linked to its Internet website and is not responsible for the contents of any such linked site. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by the WEBSITE of the site. Use of any such linked web site is at the user's own risk, and you acknowledge that the WEBSITE shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by your use of such linked websites or any content or materials contained therein.

  17. Site Terms of Use Modifications

    The WEBSITE may revise these Terms of Use from time to time. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users (for example, by email or a notice on the WEBSITE). The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest revision. By continuing to use the WEBSITE after changes are posted, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.

  18. Entire Agreement

    These Terms, including any legal notices and disclaimers contained on the WEBSITE, constitute the entire agreement between Injosoft AB and you in relation to your use of the WEBSITE, and supersede all prior agreements and understandings with respect to the same.

  19. Jurisdiction, Governing Law, and International Users

    These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Swedish law. The Swedish Courts have exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any disputes arising from or relating to the WEBSITE or these Terms. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the WEBSITE complies with all applicable local laws in your jurisdiction. Users outside the EU (for example, California residents) may have additional rights under local law; see our Privacy Policy for details (including CCPA).
